Lost and found

The Scarlet was closed from January 4th until February 12th, giving our staff a well earned break to go travelling, skiing, indulge in their hobbies and spend time with family and friends, and providing the hotel with breathing space to settle a little more into its surroundings. However, the buzz, excitement and activity has returned, and from the week prior to re-opening our team have been meticulous in their attention to getting everything just right for our first guests of 2010; their actively caring nature even made it as far as the beach...

...Approximately 25 members of the Scarlet team, including; chefs, restaurant staff, therapists, managers, housekeeping staff and Jasper the hotel dog, spent the morning on the beach finding and clearing the many items of flotsam and jetsam that have been lost by others and washed ashore during the recent storms and high tides.

Their finds included; 10kgs of plastic bottles, 10kgs of fishing line, 69kgs of rope, 7kgs of glass bottles, 3 oil drums, 3 tyres, 4 shoes, 4 flip-flops (unfortunately no pairs!)  The team’s efforts were rewarded on the day with steaming mugs of hot chocolate – however we would just like this opportunity to say thank you again for helping to keep our favourite beach spic and span. The next beach clean will be taking place soon; we hope to see both guests and staff there for another action packed cleaning session.
