Joanna has a fascination for the rhythm of life. Her work explores how rhythm and movement form lines and shapes and the spaces created within and around those forms. Through out all is the universal line of beauty which is what, as a sculptor and painter, Joanna tries to capture.
Joanna has painted and sculpted all her life, she studied a foundation year at Bath Academy of Art in the mid eighties, beyond that she is predominately self taught.
Having travelled to, amongst other places, China, India, Pakistan, and lived in Australia for nine years she now lives in Cirencester in the Cotswolds with her partner and their five year old boy Peter.
“It's a line we are all familiar with and connect to. We know it on a deeper subconscious level, whether it's a leaf on a tree or the ripple of sand on a beach or the neck and shoulder of a figure. It captures the strength and fragility of the human and organic. It stretches through life, a continuum evolving. The simple complexity of life in balance.”
