Could you tell me a bit more about the style of the hotel and rooms?

The Scarlet has been designed with the location in mind. Views will catch you by surprise, where the sand meets the sea and the cliffs define the sky. We hope you will enjoy exploring the thoughtful contemporary architecture of the building. Designed with the Cornish weather in mind: light and airy on warm sunny days with expansive terraces and hidden garden lookouts. Snug when a storm is brewing, with open fires and quiet cosy corners.  Being inside will feel like outside as nature and natural light flood the building.

The rooms offer an open feel.  Large expanses of glass offer spectacular views. Each has a private outside terrace.  Generous showers, baths for two, simple but sumptuous with a sense of calm and deeply comfortable.

I have heard it is an ‘eco hotel’. What does that mean?

We really care about the environment so a huge amount of work and effort has gone into making the Scarlet as eco-friendly as possible and minimising its effect on the planet.

So what will that mean for me as a guest?

Well, the hotel is as comfortable, delicious and relaxing a place as you could find to stay anywhere – so most guests will only notice our natural chlorine free pool, the log fired hot tubs and sauna, and the local seasonal food. Most of the other sustainable measures are almost invisible but we will be only too delighted to take you on a tour and share our enthusiasm and learning on this project with you.

For us looking after the people and world around us is our way of life.

What is the minimum age of guests at The Scarlet?

Scarlet was designed for adults, whether they be couples, friends, siblings or mother and daughter, and it will be rare to bump into a guest under 18. Our team will always be happy to discuss any exceptions should one of your party be lucky enough to have been born less than 16 years ago.
Our sister hotel Bedruthan Steps is fantastic for children with children’s clubs, play areas and much more. See www.bedruthan.com for details.

Are the spa and restaurant open to non-residents?

Yes, we welcome locals to the Scarlet.

Booking is essential.

What other facilities are there?

A library full of our favourite books and ones we want to share
Pool table
Natural pool with granite diving rock – reed filtered and chlorine free
Outdoor wood fired hot tubs
Wood-fired hot tub with a sea view
Surf boards
Hotel dog for walks
Interesting local activities from food foraging to surfing lessons

Is The Scarlet under the same ownership as Bedruthan?

Yes, The Scarlet is owned by Emma, Debbie and Rebecca, the three sisters who also own Bedruthan.  The two hotels will share many core beliefs, but Scarlet is essentially a different sort of experience to Bedruthan.

Are you a potential supplier?

We would be delighted to hear from any local business people who grow or make stuff that they really believe is good. We do not take calls from people phone canvassing so please just email us and we can see how we might work together. Email greatstuff@scarlethotel.co.uk

Interested in working at The Scarlet?

Please look on www.scarlethotel.co.uk/jobs for a list of our current vacancies. Email your CV to work@scarlethotel.co.uk and we will keep it on file if we do not have anything that’s right for you at the moment.

Where is the Scarlet?

The Scarlet nestles on a gentle cliff with nothing between you and the ocean except golden sand. With National Trust protected coastline either side, the coastal path and the beach are at the bottom of the hotel garden.
Located between Padstow and Newquay, the hotel is a short drive from Newquay Airport or 30 minutes from Bodmin Parkway Station.
