By Foot

Walkers are welcomed at the Scarlet, and we are sure that our Energise spa journey will do wonders for your get-up-and-go, helping you to re-ignite your sense of vitality from your head to your feet. To ensure that you can make the most of you stay with us we provide the following:

A space for you to dry outdoor clothing and footwear (including water for rinsing and swilling).
Packed breakfasts and lunches, including flask top ups (please ensure you place your requests with a member of our team the evening before)
A library stocked with a variety of books, maps and information pamphlets containing details of local walking routes, attractions and events.
Up-to-date weather forecasts, public transport links and details for our local coastal rescue and coastguard teams.

 

By Bike

Cyclists are welcomed at the Scarlet and we are sure that our log fired hot tubs will do wonders for weary limbs. To ensure that you can make the most of you stay with us we provide the following:

A secure, under cover bike storage area
A space for you to dry outdoor clothing and footwear (including water for rinsing and swilling clothing and your bike).
An emergency bike repair kit
Packed breakfasts and lunches, including flask top ups (please ensure you place your requests with a member of our team the evening before)
A library stocked with a variety of books, maps and information pamphlets containing details of local cycling routes, attractions and events.
Information about our nearest cycle hire outlets and cycle repair/spares shops
Up-to-date weather forecasts, public transport links and our local coastal rescue and coastguard teams.

 

By Rail

There is a regular rail service from all parts of the country to Bodmin Parkway Station, which is only a 25 minute drive from the hotel. It is also possible to connect with trains for Newquay Station, which is closer to the hotel, but will require you to change train lines at Par. We are happy to arrange taxis to meet guests travelling by rail at their choice of station.

From London

If you are travelling from London there are direct trains from London Paddington to Bodmin Parkway, even enabling you to leave direct from work (albeit a little early) to catch the 16.00hrs train and be with us for dinner overlooking the ocean. Or, why not try the overnight sleeper train, the “Night Riviera”? It is comfortable and smooth; the cabins are stylish and spacious with a wash basin, TV and freshly laundered sheets. Much less hassle, and far more enjoyable, than flying or driving: fall asleep in London and wake up to sunrise in Cornwall. From the North

The West Coast main line and Cross Country services provide a variety of direct and indirect train options, with at least 3 direct trains each day travelling the Edinburgh to Penzance route (which calls at main stations such as Newcastle, Durham, York, Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham, Bristol, and Exeter) enabling you to alight and be collected at Bodmin Parkway.

The last direct train, which calls at the stations listed above and would ensure that you could enjoy dinner in our wonderful restaurant, departs Edinburgh just after 11.00hrs.

 

By Coach

National Express provides regular coach services from all parts of the country to Newquay. Taxis can be arranged to meet guests travelling by coach.

 

By Car

From the East

If travelling from the East; take the M5 towards the South West. At Exeter, branch left onto the A30 westbound, sign posted Bodmin.
If travelling from the West; take the A30 eastward, signposted Bodmin.
Continue travelling straight on the A30 until the Highgate Hill roundabout. Turn off onto the A39 towards Newquay. At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit continuing on the A39 towards Wadebridge, following signs for Newquay Airport. At the Trekenning roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A3059, following signs for Newquay Airport. Just after the Gulf garage turn right, signposted St. Mawgan and Airport. Go past the airport and turn right at the T Junction, sign posted Padstow and Mawgan Porth. As you approach Mawgan Porth you can see the hotel perched on the cliff top! Travel through Mawgan Porth and as you are heading back up hill turn left onto Tredragon Road (there is a large sign post for The Scarlet on the opposite side of the road, just a little past the Tredragon Road turning). The hotel is 200 yards along this road, on your left.

From the West

Take the A30 eastbound, sign posted Bodmin. Continue travelling on the A30 up until the Highgate Hill roundabout.  From this point follow the directions as above.

 

By Air

The Scarlet is 5 minutes from Newquay airport, see the connections to and from Newquay on their website. 

We recommend using Bio Travel taxis for your connection; they are based at the airport and provide a convenient, stress free and environmentally friendly service.
