At Scarlet, we’re passionate about sustainability and supporting brands that share our vision for a greener future. That’s why we are thrilled to partner with Jelley’s Vodka, a leader in eco-conscious spirits, as they embark on an exciting new chapter: securing their first national supermarket listing.
To celebrate the launch of their elderflower and honey-flavoured vodka in 14 Morrisons stores across Devon and Cornwall, Founder Benjamin Jelley undertook an extraordinary challenge. He cycled 250 kilometres to personally deliver 250 bottles to the stores, a feat that saved 0.25 tonnes of carbon dioxide. Benjamin’s final stop was here at Scarlet Hotel, where we had the pleasure of welcoming him after his inspiring journey.
After completing his 250km ride, Benjamin joined us in the serene surroundings of Scarlet, where we discussed his adventure, Jelley’s Vodka, and what the future holds for this innovative brand.
What inspired you to hand deliver the bottles to 14 Morrisons stores across Devon & Cornwall?
“When you get the opportunity to get a listing with a national retailer, it’s like ok so what can we do that’s going to highlight our ethos as a brand, so we thought let’s demonstrate how much carbon we can save if we deliver 250 bottles across 250km saving 0.25 tonnes of carbon.”
How many days has your journey delivering bottles across Devon and Cornwall taken you?
“I’ve been on the bike for four days. Everything was planned and it was essentially daisy chaining stock.”
How would you describe the Jelley’s elderflower and honey vodka to someone who hasn’t tasted it yet?
“I would say it’s stunning. It’s nice and clean, you get the elderflower at the back which is a lovely hint of sweetness. It’s especially nice served with a tonic or a soda as you get that hint of honey and floral tones from the elderflower. It’s a nice balanced vodka.”
What appealed to you about partnering with Scarlet?
“When we got that initial email with a confirmation of the national retailer, it was celebrations all round but to build a brand you have to build culture, so we wanted to reach out to aspirational businesses that hold a similar ethos to us and you guys loved the idea and here I am talking to you now.”
And what’s next for Jelley’s vodka?
“We want to build on what we have done recently; the change has been really elevating the passions I hold and what I want Jelley’s vodka to hold. We’re passionate about the arts, about music and the great outdoors. It’s building on those elements to build brand culture and whilst also doing our bit to make the world a better place.”
